DEAFNESS.......
We are deaf - of course it is true
But to call us dumb is untrue
Especially with hearing aids or phonates, we hear, though, not a
lot.
Don't treat us like strangers - that's a good deed!!
Communication is easy, so don't keep us at bay
It's 26 alphabets in sign language away
We may not be perfect, but we do use our voices
We feel deeply the rhythm of music in our souls
Body language and hand movement is a dance of our own
We smile and greet with our eyes and face, the same as you
We can think and move and work the same as you
We have no problem if we are deaf for we really normal as same as
hearing
people
Only get your hands to help us communicate
Normally if you talk slowly, we can lip-read
You can share our world of silence
God makes us feel his music and life's vibrations everywhere
Many normal people are amazed by the depth of our feelings
For us, friendships are not a thing of temporary sharing
We give a part of ourselves
You except everything for what it is so why not us
We don't need you sympathy. Our parents and school have taught us
self-esteem
God's nature and animals don't rebuff us and treat us as abnormal,
so why do
you?
Extend a hand of friendships, give us a rightful and respectful
place in
society
My Swiss grandmother (from Switzerland)says," Deaf people, our God's
special
gift to people with
big hearts".
